WORKING WITH LEADERS TO LEAD MOVEMENTS
CHECK OUT SOME RECENT MESSAGES
Pastor Thomas met his wife, Maggie, in middle school. They reconnected in their twenties and soon married. They now live in San Diego, where both were born and raised, with their two children, Sparrow and Odyssey. He’s a committed husband, proud father, avid sports fan, and world traveler who believes the world is too big and beautiful to leave unseen.
For nearly 20 years, Thomas has dedicated his life to ministry and learning. He holds a B.A. in Religious Studies, an M.Div., and a D.Min. in Transformational Leadership from Duke Divinity School. More than the degrees, however, Thomas has been shaped by the people and communities he’s walked alongside. His greatest passion is seeing people and churches become healthier and more vibrant through discovering their purpose in Christ. Thomas has spent a large portion of his career studying and teaching on church health/systems, spiritual practices, and leadership development. He loves helping others discover that faith is not meant to be lived alone, but flourishes when people work together toward a shared vision of hope and renewal.
WHO IS PASTOR THOMAS?
WHERE DOES HE SERVE NOW?
Pastor Thomas stepped into the role of Lead Pastor of Legacy Church during the summer of 2023. He was pleased to discover that the Legacy community was refreshingly local, unapologetically authentic, and always on mission. Week after week he watched as this warm, neighborly community modeled Christian love well. He is often surprised and inspired by what his church family accomplishes together- not because it's flashy or fancy, but because it is real, shared, and heartfelt. He loves what he does and he can't wait to see what God has in store for them.
When it comes to ministry, everything Legacy does is filtered through their unique ECG model, which stands for Engage, Connect and Grow. This represents the heartbeat of their church. They are constantly looking to Engage with people in their community, Connect them to the church, and Grow them into mature reproducing disciples of Christ. This rhythm shows up in everything they do, shaping worship, local outreach, and connect group ministries. It helps keeps their culture balanced, healthy, and on purpose, ensuring that Legacy can continue to love San Diego well for generations to come!
